Materials and products in contact with drinking water

Next week EurEau, the European Copper Institute, Plastics Europe and Aqua Europa will organise a symposium on materials and products in contact with drinking water.

This stakeholder-driven initiative at European level aims at filling a long-standing gap in the implementation of art.10 of the Drinking Water Directive due to the absence of an EU wide acceptance scheme for materials and products in contact with drinking water.

Developing national approaches to implement art.10, in fact, may result in differences in the level of health protection as well as potential non-tariff barriers to trade in the internal market.

During two days, on 19 and 20 May, stakeholders will present their perspectives on the need for a European regulatory framework at the symposium that will take place in Brussels and will feature the participation of national regulators as well as of DG GROW and DG ENV.
