The Conference COWM2018 will be the stage for all the ongoing citizen science and crowdsourcing initiatives.

COWM2018 will bring together social scientists, surveyors, engineers, scientists, and other professionals from many countries involved in research and development activities in a wide range of technical and management topics related to citizen observatories and their impacts on society. It will be an opportunity to discover how to maximize the benefit of data emerging from citizen observatories in the fields of Environmental Monitoring, Natural Risks management, Land use monitoring and management.

The 2016 edition represented an extraordinary opportunity for comparison with international experiences (presence of experts from all over the world from Australia to the United States, from Scandinavia to South Africa). This second edition promises to be even richer in content: detailed information on the Conference can be found on the website.

These are the main themes that will be explored by the scientific program of the Conference:

Communities involvement in environmental management

New challenges for integrated water cycle management

Crisis management and natural disaster resilience

Decision support in extreme weather climate events

Resilience and Territorial Safety

We invite you to participate at the Conference by submitting an abstract for a presentation or to attend the Conference by registering in the website. For more information about registration and participation in the call for abstracts please visit the web-site of the conference (www.cowm.eu).

During the Conference parallel events will be organized: technological workshops, training sessions, parallel sessions and presentations of new projects and technologies. The event will provide opportunities to engage with the operators in the water industry and innovation, in order to exchange experiences on the development, implementation and use of new advanced monitoring techniques, and to discuss the potentialfor new job opportunities.

The event will be hosted at the prestigious Palazzo Labia, in Campo San Geremia (Venice), famous Baroque palace with frescoes by Giambattista Tiepolo and functional regional RAI headquarters, equipped with conference rooms and multimedia areas.
