Commission publishes draft revised Mercury legislation

EurEau welcomes the long overdue revision of Regulation 2017/852 on Mercury proposing an end to the use of dental amalgam from January 2025. This application is one of the most important sources of mercury in our surface waters and must be phased out quickly. The urgency is exacerbated by the long life span of amalgam fillings meaning that mercury will leach into the environment long after the ban has entered into force.

EurEau calls on the co-legislators to approve the Commission's proposal quickly.
