Enhancing Resilience of Urban Ecosystems through Green Infrastructure

The European Committee of the Regions (CoR) in partnership with DG Environment and the Joint Research Centre of the European Commission, is organising a conference on "Enhancing Resilience of Urban Ecosystems through Green Infrastructure". The conference is taking place under the Joint Technical Platform for Cooperation on the Environment.
The conference will present the main scientific and policy outcomes of EnRoute, a European Parliament Pilot project, which provides knowledge of how urban green infrastructure can support urban policy objectives at different stages of planning and for various spatial scales.
This meeting provides a forum for policy makers and scientists to exchange ideas of how urban green infrastructure solutions can reconcile urban growth with objectives on biodiversity, quality of life and public health, adaptation to climate change, sustainable urban planning, disaster risk reduction etc.
Participants may speak in and listen to: EN/FR/DE/FI/IT/NL
The agenda will shortly be available on the website of the

EU policies in addressing drinking water management challenges

European dialogue on sustainability of the farming sector is currently marked by the discussions on the new EU multi-annual financing framework and implicitly by the discussions of the role, scope and focus of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP). In parallel, discussions are conducted on the review of several water and drinking water related policy instruments and the adoption of new frameworks likely to impact upon the linkage between farming and drinking water sources.
The H2020 projects WaterProtect and FAIRWAY are both conducting a series of activities to evaluate, analyze and possibly replicate good governance models found, including bottom-up and top-down approaches that address water management and agricultural activities. Equally, the partners study the policy and legislative frameworks in seeking to integrate water management concerns with agricultural policies. The interim findings and the analysis produced in the two projects will in this meeting be discussed and contextualized with stakeholders prior to the next phase of the assessment.
Objective:
To seek stakeholder perspective on pathways for integration and building synergies within EU agricultural and environmental policies that effectively address challenges of nitrate and pesticide pollution of drinking water resources.
